Great Meeting with Bob Lewis who is the owner of Columbia Vista the last saw mill operating on the Columbia River in our area. Bob is a great steward of our natural resources. Columbia Vista is having some issues with over reach and unwarranted regulation by our state DNR. The Democrats continue to add environmental regulations that are having significant effects on industrial businesses. Columbia Vista added 30 new jobs this year with total employment at 130 . Bob also owns Roots Bar and Grill and the new Lapellah restaurant off Hwy 14. I am happy to have his endorsement and to work to protect these jobs as you state representative.

A Article by Michael Ennis in this weekends Columbian titled – Voters deserve the light-rail vote they were promised, made me ask Is there really mystery money for light rail? After two years of in depth discussion on light rail, Vancouver City Council says they may be able to fund the maintenance and operation of light rail without a sales tax increase. So where is this money coming from? Is it possible our mayor will use his option of raising our car tabs $20/car/year? The mayor and our city council have the power to raise some fees a limited amount without your vote, and car tabs are one of them. So watch out friends, there is no mystery money. I continue to stand for a county wide vote of the public on light rail.

Charles would like to expand but wow $60,000 dollars in impact fees is too much for a small business. I will continue to fight these fees so we can get people working again. Fees or jobs what do we need today. We need JOBS.

Met with Chucks Produce this week. They are a great new business in our community and it has been a pleasure to go to bat for them in there new location in Hazel Dell. It has been a success by getting their fees reduced in half but it is still to much. I am glad that they are proceeding with store 2. They also gave me permission to use their billboard sites again for my campaign.
